Playing catch up...

Bahaha...I find it hysterical now that I thought that while I was working full time, planning a wedding and having a life I could keep this blog up to date!! Some days I do good by just remembering to eat! Needless to say, we've been extremely busy the past 5 months!

Here is a quick run down to get everyone up to speed:
December: We spent the first part of December in Mexico checking out resorts! The Now Jade was the winner and we fell in love with it! The people were so friendly and the food and drinks were awesome! It is not located on any 'hotel row' and is semi secluded from other resorts. The closest place is a small fishing community called Puerto Morales. The town is so quiant and beautiful! We loved every minute of our "site visit" and can't wait to get back down there for the wedding with all our family and some friends!

Christmas and New Years were spent all over Texas. We split time between Austin, Marble Falls, Tyler and back home to Lubbock! We had a wonderful time seeing all our families!

January: We celebrated my 25th birthday with a quiet dinner at our favorite steak house with some good friends. We started organizing wedding ideas and I got into semi planning mode. We also spent one Saturday at Petsmart where we rescued a loveable new brittany spaniel who we named Harley. Him and Lexi love having each other around and are so sweet and funny. We attended a nice awards ceremony for Coldwell Banker and Parker was #1 on the commerical side!!! YAY babe! (OH, did I mention we also put in new flooring in the living, dining, kitchen and bathroom??...wow)

February: My parents and the Woods' threw us a  lovely engagement party in Marble Falls with lots of our friends and some family. It was so nice to see everyone and we had a wonderful time with friends! We spent Valentines day being thankful that we had found each other and celebrating with a nice dinner.

March: We were in full wedding planning mode by this time! I had lists of everything, emails filling up my inbox and a few small fires I had to put out...but overall March was a good month. My home church in Marble Falls threw me a wonderful bridal shower and we got some lovely gifts! My mom and neice Kenley picked me up from the airport and we had such a great night together! It was nice to be able to see everyone and spend the weekend with my family! Parker went to Vegas for a work conference and came home being ranked in the top 1% in the world for Coldwell Banker Commerical! I was SUPER proud of him because he works so hard and deserves it! Towards the end of March, we both got sick and I ended up having to stay home almost a week to get better! Yuck!

April: So far, April has been alright. We had a stressful few weeks at the begining with family illness, personal illness and trying to get our wedding invites sent out!! Thank goodness I had them all ready to go because at the last minute I had to drive 6 hrs home to be with family and Parker ended up having to finish them and get the mailed out! What a sweet man I am marrying! There has been a little more wedding stress this month as we get closer to the big day! I'm trying to make lists and stick to them so I don't feel overwhelmed! Parker has been working hard to close some deals before we leave so MAYBE he can part with his blackberry for 2 weeks while we're gone! ;)
The one wedding event this month has been my dress fittings!
<<A funny note about April, my sister's bridsmaid dress was ordered in January and still was not in when I went home. I had to call David's Bridal multiple times and speak to corporate office to figure out the problem. In one of those conversations my sister was present and when I hung up she said, "geez, I have never heard you be so mean or aggresive to anyone- I'm sure glad to know you can bust out the bridezilla when needed!" Which she probably doesn't know, but that comment made my day and gave me a MUCH needed laugh!>>

SO- Now you are up to date on where we're at! :D We are SO looking forward to our big day and are counting down to leaving for Mexico! Hope to see you all there! Adios!

Save the Date!

We're making progress! I found a great idea at this FABULOUS destination wedding website for making save the date cards. The template is similar to an airline boarding pass and they came out totally awesome! I designed them and had staples print them, then Parker and I sat down and cut them and stuffed them into the cute pockets ourselves! It was really an easy process and I was super thankful for Parker and my mom's help getting them finished! (Mom helped me get them completed and sent off!) We found out we ended up saving about $75-$100 because we made them instead of ordering them- plus it was fun! So I hope you all have your "boarding pass" for our fun-filled wedding weekend!

The wedding planning part has really been VERY relaxed thus far...(I keep thinking I should be worried about some detail, but I'm not!) I sure hope the whole planning process continues on this path! Right now we've chosen a date, destination resort, colors, wedding party, bridesmaid dresses, THE dress!, invitations and even some ceremony/reception details! I feel extremely fortunate to NOT have to stress over finding flowers, cakes, churches, reception venues, photographer, DJ, catering and all the other hoop-la that goes with a traditional wedding. Not that traditional weddings are terrible, but I think all brides would agree its ALOT of planning and searching! The resort actually sent me a "wedding booklet" that has ALL those options in one place! I'm so thankful we choose a destination wedding! So now I'm slowly going through all of the "fill in the blanks" to decide on some details. Its been SO fun! And I know for certain that Parker thanks sweet baby Jesus everyday that he doesn't have to deal with a stressed out-always planning-worrywart fiance! Right babe?! :)

We are excited for the upcoming holidays to relax and spend time with all our families and maybe some friends! We are also excited for my baby brother because Marble Falls Football has made it to the 2nd round of the playoffs! This means we will make the trek to San Marcos next weekend to support him and hopefully celebrate another playoff win! Congrats Logie!

Parker is really counting down to December 3rd because we are doing a site visit to the wedding resort to scope it all out and try to make a few decisions on where we want to host the ceremony/reception/rehearsal dinner and such. He is really "in need" of a vacation! I will be taking lots of photos and posting a few here after we return! I'm looking forward to meeting the wedding coordinator and getting some finalized pricing! Oh and a nice pina colada on the warm sand will be nice too... :D

Welcome Welcome Welcome!

As we start our journey through planning our wedding and starting our life together, we hope to use this blog to keep in touch with our family and friends that are all over Texas! We are excited to be engaged and are loving every minute! Our family here in Lubbock includes Parker, Ashlee & Lexi (our 6 month old Lab). We love spending time with all our family and friends, but we don't get to see everyone as much as we'd like too, so hopefully this blog will be a way to stay connected!

I say "we", but you all know the person behind the blog is usually me (Ash)! But hopefully Parker will add his two cents from time to time! I will try my hardest to post often to keep you guys up to date on whats the latest! You are able to reply to posts by using the "comment" area below this post. You can post a reply without having to sign in or sign up for anything I think! ALSO- If you'd like to bookmark our blog feel free, but if you'd like to keep up with us let me know and I will add your email address to our notification list so you can recieve an email when we post something new!
We love you guys and hope this blog helps to keep us close (even though we're way far away in the dust of West Texas!)

Much Love-A&P
